FAQ: Somatic Experiencing with Coral

About My Practice

What exactly do you offer and how does it work?

I offer one-on-one Somatic Experiencing (SE) sessions, a body-based approach to healing trauma and unresolved stress. My work focuses on helping you reconnect with your body's innate wisdom. We'll work at a gentle pace, using mindful awareness to track sensations, feelings, and impulses. This process helps your nervous system complete its natural stress response cycles, which may have been interrupted or frozen in time. Unlike traditional talk therapy, the primary focus is not on the story of the event, but on what's happening in your body in the present moment.

How is this different from other therapies?

While many therapies work with the mind and narrative memory, SE directly addresses trauma held in the body. We don't just talk about what happened; we explore how your body is holding the experience. By working directly with the nervous system, we can safely and gently release the charge of past events, leading to a profound sense of calm and resilience.

How are you different from other SEPs?

My practice is a unique blend of my training, personal experience, and intuition. Each session is tailored to your specific needs and pace. I create a safe, compassionate container for you to explore and heal. My work is also informed by my background in meditation and Craniosacral Therapy.

Somatic Work

What does it do?

Somatic work helps to regulate a dysregulated nervous system. By releasing unresolved trauma and stress that is trapped in the body, it can alleviate symptoms like anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and overwhelm. It helps you develop a greater capacity to feel, to be present, and to respond to life's challenges with more ease and resilience.

Who is this for and what problems does it solve?

Somatic work is for anyone who feels disconnected from their body, struggles with chronic stress, or experiences the lingering effects of trauma, big or small. It can help you resolve issues like emotional dysregulation, panic attacks, high anxiety, and a persistent feeling of being "stuck." It's also for anyone looking to cultivate a deeper sense of self-awareness and mind-body connection.

Getting Started

How long are your sessions?

Sessions are 50 minutes long. You can also choose to book a combined session of 100 minutes, blending 50 minutes of SE with 50 minutes of Craniosacral work for a more comprehensive experience.

Where should we meet?

For in-person sessions, you can find me at 7755 Boul. Saint-Laurent #200, Montréal, QC H2R 1X1. I also offer sessions via Zoom, which is a great option for those who prefer to meet remotely.

How do I get started?

You can sign up for my waitlist to be notified of my next available opening. This is the best way to get started and ensure you get a spot as soon as it's available.

What information do I need to provide?

Before our first session, you'll need to fill out an intake form and sign a waiver. The intake form provides me with important information about your history and goals, allowing me to prepare for our sessions together. The waiver is standard for all clients.

Is there a free trial or demo available?

While I don't offer a formal free trial, you can get a feel for my approach by trying some of my guided somatic meditations on YouTube.

What are the prerequisites?

Anyone who is alive and has a body can benefit from this work. No prior experience with somatics or bodywork is required—just a willingness to explore your body a bit more.

Account and Billing

How much does it cost?

My sessions are offered on a sliding scale to ensure this work is accessible to more people. The standard fee is $125, which helps sustain my practice.

If you are in a financially stable position, paying the standard rate or above helps me offer lower-cost sessions for those who need them. My sliding scale ranges from $95 - $125, and you are welcome to choose the rate that feels most supportive for your current financial situation.

Do you take insurance?

Yes, Somatic Experiencing sessions are often covered by private insurance policies. My services are recognized by the Association des Naturopathes du Québec (ANQ), so if your plan covers consultations with ANQ members, you can submit your invoices for reimbursement. However, please note that three insurers do not currently reimburse for ANQ consultations: Canada Life, Industrial Alliance, and Medavie Blue Cross. I always recommend confirming your specific coverage with your insurance provider.

What payment methods do you accept?

For Canadian clients, I prefer payment via e-transfer. For international clients, I only accept PayPal.

When am I billed and how can I view invoices?

Payment is due at the time of your session. I will send you a digital invoice for your records after each session.

How do I cancel?

To cancel a session, please do so on my Calendly app. You do not need to email me.

What's your refund or cancellation policy?

I require a minimum of 24 hours' notice for all cancellations. Any cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will be subject to a full session fee. Refunds are not provided for services rendered.
